“A Shining Star in My Cabinet” — Tinubu Showers Praise on Wike, Hints at APC Embrace

President Bola Tinubu celebrating FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for his performance and infrastructure projects in Abuja

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has publicly celebrated the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, describing him as one of the standout performers in his administration.

In a birthday message released on Saturday, December 13, through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the former Rivers State governor for his energy, resilience, and results-driven leadership in Abuja.

Tinubu said he was grateful to God for Wike’s life, noting that the FCT minister has consistently demonstrated courage, determination, and a strong commitment to public service.

According to the President, Wike has brought visible transformation to the nation’s capital, particularly through aggressive infrastructure development. He singled out the revival of the long-abandoned Apo–Karshi Road project, describing it as a major breakthrough that ended over 14 years of stagnation.

The President noted that Wike’s performance in Abuja has reinforced his reputation as “Mr Project,” a title he earned during his tenure as Rivers State governor.

“Nyesom Wike has been one of the shining stars in the cabinet,” Tinubu said.
“He is an exceptional performer, developing infrastructure in the Federal Capital Territory in ways never seen before.”

Tinubu also commended Wike for his loyalty to the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, despite being a member of a different political party, a move he described as rare and commendable in Nigeria’s political space.

In a subtle political signal, the President hinted that Wike would be welcomed into the All Progressives Congress (APC) should he choose to make the move, praising his collaborative spirit and commitment to national development.

Tinubu concluded by wishing the FCT minister a happy birthday and renewed strength to continue delivering impactful projects for residents of the capital city.
