Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, who represents Abia South in the National Assembly, has predicted a tough political future for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisting the President will be voted out in the 2027 general election.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, the outspoken lawmaker challenged the narrative that Tinubu has never lost an election, arguing that public sentiment across the country has shifted sharply against the current administration.
According to Abaribe, the economic hardship Nigerians are experiencing has created widespread frustration that could determine the outcome of the next presidential race.
“Nigerians are already overwhelmed by the pain they are going through,” he said. “When people get to that point, they always respond at the ballot.”
The senator went further to question the legitimacy of Tinubu’s 2023 victory, claiming that the President did not genuinely win the election but was merely declared winner.
“Everyone knows Tinubu did not truly win the 2023 election,” Abaribe stated. “But we accepted the declaration and moved on in the interest of peace. That doesn’t mean Nigerians have forgotten.”
He warned that the political landscape ahead of 2027 will be very different, stressing that voters and opposition parties will be far more prepared.
“This time, it won’t be about late-night announcements when people are asleep,” he said. “Nigerians are alert, the opposition is ready, and the masses are even more determined.”
Abaribe also dismissed speculations about defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that he would be the last person to join the party.
As political tensions begin to build toward 2027, Abaribe’s comments add to the growing wave of opposition voices questioning the Tinubu administration’s electoral strength and public acceptance.
